Body after Baby #2

7 months postpartum...I guess it's time for a body after baby update!

I gained 23 - 25 pounds (per my last doctor visit) with Ellie. Throughout my pregnancies, I worked out. With Levi, I ran until 34 weeks and with Ellie I ran until the end...I was at the gym the day before I had both my babies. And I was blessed to have such great, healthy pregnancies even though I was "older".

I was actually surprised how great I felt my third trimester with Ellie and that I ran a distance of up to 6 miles at a time in my second trimester and then 4-5 miles with my 3rd.

Since I worked out and only gained 23-25 pds, I thought surely I will be back to normal in no time but definitely by 6 months. I. Was. Wrong. The day I was released from the hospital, I walked a mile. And I walked every day until I was cleared to run/workout at 5 weeks. When Ellie was 12 weeks, I ran a 10k with my friend Carrie...pushing Ellie in a stroller.

Sometime around 5 months postpartum I decided to run a 11 mile trail run. And just last weekend -- I did! It wasn't my best performance (1 hr 51 mins) but it felt SO good to accomplish it. It's hard squeezing in long runs on the weekend when you have 2 kids. And even harder when my husband needs to do the same thing........it's a balancing act.

So, all of that and guess what ------- I am still 5 pounds over my normal weight. It's been extremely difficult. I am so frustrated. Even all my hard work hasn't paid off....I am almost confident that my age is playing a role.

If you're wondering what I eat -- I'd say it's pretty standard. Lots of coffee with creamer (and I just cannot cut it out!), fruit, nuts, cheese/crackers, salad, red vino -- that's the typical food plan for me. I really don't eat that bad. Bad for me is overindulging in almonds which can add calories... so I am trying to cut back in that department.

So, that's where I am at. If you have any advice, I am all ears! And here's a pic of me and my Ellie Belly in a bathing suit - oy!!
