Meet 'One-Eyed Levi'

We've been settling in since returning home from the hospital Friday.  The dogs are adjusting well.  I was never nervous about our dogs until the moment we left the hospital....then I began to freak out a little.  When we got here we put them outside so that we could get Levi inside and adjusted to his new living quarters...then dealt with the dogs later.  Since, Symba and Nala have done a great job at acknowledging Levi but giving him space.  I should've known they'd be wonderful with him!  They are the best pups ever!

Our first night here was the roughest.  There was lots of crying, diaper changes, feedings, etc all night/morning long.  All of which is common but when you're not used to caring for a newborn, is very overwhelming.  But we did great - meaning we made it through!  The one thing we noticed during this time was...late at night (after midnight)...Levi only opens one eye.  Of course, we thought nothing of it at the time.  Until the next night.  When the clock struck midnight we looked over at Levi and once again - there was one eye open the other closed.  We also noticed a shift in his 'personality'.  He becomes a little more restless, agitated, and fussy (of course, he's absolute precious as well).  Once again, the night was spent getting up and down to feed, change diapers, rock Levi, etc (of course all normal activities for a new baby).

Since, Drew and I have decided that whenever 'One-Eyed Levi' appears we better plan for a 'rough night' of baby duty. :)  It's our way of having fun with a new experience as Mommy and Daddy.

In all seriousness, Levi is amazing.  We spend every second with him and just love him so much.  We are soaking up every second because we know this time with him is limited as a newborn.  He has already brought so much joy into our lives and I can already see why people with kids say 'your life is forever changed once you have kids'...and it's an amazing 'forever changed'.  I wouldn't go back or change it for the world.  Our lives are more fulfilled and complete with Levi.  He's the most amazing baby ever and we're so happy to be his Mommy and Daddy. :)

Here's a picture of one-eyed Levi.  If you see him - watch out.  He's a tough one!
