36 Weeks -- Pregnancy Update

Here's a quick run down of the 3rd trimester thus far...

  • Felt great the first half...definitely slowing down the 2nd
  • Swelling in my hands occurs when I am outside in the heat...definitely glad I am not pregnant all summer!
  • Wore a bathing suit (maternity style!) to the pool...I wasn't sure if I would avoid the pool/beach altogether but who am I kidding...might as well flaunt the bump
  • Mixed feelings this pregnancy...while I am physically tired of being pregnant, this is probably the last time I'll actually be pregnant since we only plan on having 2 kiddos...so I am trying to slow down and enjoy each moment...swollen fingers or not.
  • Belly button is/has been out and it grosses me out!
  • I have PUPPS this time around on my stomach...annoying.  It itches!
  • I've been more closely monitored this pregnancy - my doctors continue to say that our baby is going to be small...but at 35 weeks she was already 5 pds 11 ozs...so I don't see how that's considered small....I know she'll be just right. :)
  • My fluids were low last week but I was just at the doctor today and that's all back to normal (but they'll continue to monitor).
  • Because I am being more closely monitored (i.e. non-stress test each week at this point) I get to see our baby girl - she was so precious today with her hand over her eyes (see pic below).
  • I've opted - based on many conversations with my doctors - for a C-section....that's how Levi was delivered and based on his delivery, they said it wouldn't be a bad idea...of course totally up to me.  I just have a feeling that may ultimately be what happens this time around too...and really, since it's 'all I know' it gives me a little security because I know what to expect.  The doctor also said that a C-section is as safe as a regular delivery.
  • The nursery has a ways to go...work has been very busy and weekends have been jam packed trying to squeeze in everything we can before our baby girl arrives.  I really hope to complete it over the next couple weeks.  But I know that if it's not perfect before she gets here...it'll be fine.  Maybe I am a slacker Mommy but the basics are covered - what is going on the walls... it'll come and I don't want to 'force' it.
  • Headed to Charleston this weekend with just my hubby to celebrate our 6 year anniversary - I CANNOT WAIT!  Last get-away to my favorite place! WOOHOO!  (Thanks Mom for babysitting!)
Enough for now - here are some pictures of this growing belly!
