Disclosure: I fully understand many others lives are far more hectic than mine. This is just my journey and daily grind.
- 6:00 am: Alarm goes off - depending on the day, we either get up or hit snooze.
- 6:00 - 7:00 am: Make coffee immediately, write labels for bottles, make bottles, prep Levi's breakfast, pump, oh and I have to get ready for the day!
- 6:45 am: Drew brings Levi down for breakfast
- 7:00 am: I get dressed and play with Ellie briefly
- 7:15 - 7:30 am: Change kids clothes, get bottles, change of clothes, etc ready to walk out the door for daycare and work.
- 7:30 - 7:35 am: Convince Levi to sit in his car seat and kiss Drew goodbye for the day
- 7:50 am: Arrive at daycare - get Levi settled in his room first, then Ellie
- 8:00 am: Walk out of daycare (sip coffee waiting in car), drive to gym
- 8:10 - 8:45 am: Squeeze in what I call an "express workout" b/c it's now or never - the day will get away from me and I've committed to making my workouts a priority (not that I go every day...)
- 9:00 am: Back home and logged into work
- 9:00 - 5:45 pm: Working...and yes, I work from home but let's be clear....I am on calls and working. Today, I didn't even let the dogs out until 5 pm (it's a busy time at work) and forgot to pump until noon....I was just all over the place. This is more common than not these days.
- 6:00 pm: Pick kids up from daycare and yes, that means a 10 hr day for them and it sucks but what can I do...
- 6:20 pm: Back home - Levi usually wants to peep, juice, looking for a missing toy, etc.
- 6:45 pm: Hopefully making Levi's dinner, nursing Ellie; Drew usually gets home around this time
- 7:00 pm: Sitting down with the kids to let them eat and talk about Levi's day
- 7:15 pm: Head upstairs for baths
- 7:30 - 8:00 pm: Kids in bed - read books, nurse, cuddle time...typically, Drew takes care of Levi and I take care of Ellie since I have to nurse her....then we switch and kiss/love on the other one...
- 8:00 - 9:00 pm: Drew makes his own dinner and I shower. I've always liked showering at night -- it just works for me. And Drew doesn't mind making his own meal -- it works for us.
- 9:00 pm: Ellie usually wakes up and I bring her downstairs with us to watch TV. Or perhaps the TV is on but I am on the internet reading blogs, searching the web, online 'wanna be' shopping, wasting time pinning recipes I'll never cook or outfits I'll never have time to style for myself, etc.
- 10:15 pm: Head to bed.....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
In addition, I am also waking up 2-3 times per night to nurse Ellie. That typically occurs around 2 and 5 am. And let's do that over and over and over again................... :)
So, basically I am in a constant state of exhaustion. I find that I care less about some stuff - like my hair and makeup. Not that I've 'given up on appearance' altogether but I just don't have the time to curl my hair or plan outfits, etc. I think I look socially acceptable still but perhaps I am just in a state of exhaustion and totally oblivious to the fact that I am a hot mess. I am too tired to really care. ;)
All that being said, it's super fabulous walking into daycare and seeing your babies smile and scream "MOM!" --------------- gets me every time! And it's true, days off - like upcoming Thanksgiving - you really cherish every second...which is why my house is probably a mess (ha)!
What a day! I am exhausted just reading it - oy! But you know, it's almost Thanksgiving and I have to admit - I am thankful for the kids and job that keep me super busy. I am truly blessed.
