Iowa!

That's where I've spent 75% of my time this past month!  Until I met Drew, I didn't even know 1 person from Iowa and here I am many years later spending all my time there!  Why you ask?  Well, for work.  For fun.  And more work.  Since I was traveling up for an extended period of time for work 'stuff', Drew and Levi flew up for a quick weekend trip to Spencer, IA where Drew grew up.

My overall impression - I can see why Dick and Meredith raised their kids there.  I can see why Drew turned out to be so calm and polite.  And I can see why a lot of his family still lives there.  It's a sweet little town....quaint and sometimes it's nice to live where everybody knows your name.....Cheers!

Thanks so so so so so so so so so so so much to beautiful Grandma Barb for hosting us. She threw us a PARTY (I am not kidding) where she served up cream puffs and the best apps!  She is the hostess with the mostess and her home is exactly what I expected - warm, cozy and stylish!  I adore Drew's Grandma Barb...she is so welcoming and always makes me feel just like family.  Did I mention her homemade cream puffs?  We also got to hang out with Ellen - 96 1/2 years young!  I was AMAZED - she doesn't miss a beat!  Ellen has so much energy and I really felt it meant the world she was able to spend time with both Levi and Drew.

I could go on and on about our trip to Spencer.  It was a quick trip but memories that will last a lifetime.  It was interesting to see where Drew grew up and landmarks his family references (the dealership, hotel, grocery store, etc).

I would like to end this LONG post with pictures and one more note --- family is so precious.  They really mold the person you become.

Levi waiting to board the plane.  Drew flew alone with Levi...and everyone did great!
First time staying in a hotel room for Levi - he loved it (even though he slept in the closet ;) - heehee)

Family gathering - Look at the excitement on Levi's face! :)
